Statement in response to press coverage of telescopic ladders withdrawal

Apr 11, 2017

Following the recent press coverage regarding telescopic ladders that have been removed from sale in the UK after failing to meet EN131 standards, WernerCo urges purchasers to take care to ensure that they are buying equipment that meets the highest safety standards.

Derbyshire County Council’s Trading Standards team worked alongside Derbyshire City Council, Leicestershire County Council and Northampton County Council to test a range of telescopic ladder types. All of the ladders tested failed to meet the EN131’s safety and structural standards, leading to 32,000 ladders being recalled from sale.

Paul Bruton, Product Development Director at WernerCo, commented:

“We would like to assure our customers that WernerCo telescopic ladders are not subject to this recall and are safe to use.

All of our products meet the required standards and are 100% safe to use. We will never risk our users’ safety and stake our reputation on this. If you want to make sure you are purchasing products that are safe to use, then you can be confident in supplying WernerCo ranges including Youngman, ABRU, Boss Towers and Werner.”
