New Innovative Compact Fiberglass Extension Ladders Easily Maneuver In Tight Spaces

Greenville, PA, August 28, 2012 – Werner Co. announced today the availability of the new Werner Compact 3-Piece Fiberglass Extension Ladder series, developed specifically with professionals in mind. The innovative 3-piece design lets extension ladders go where they have never been before – around tight corners, into elevators and through narrow stairwells. The new Compact Extension Ladder, which comes in 5 sizes between 16’ to 32’, delivers tangible benefits without compromising the quality, safety and reach of a traditional 2-piece extension ladder.

The Compact Fiberglass Extension Ladders were developed specifically for contracting, telecommunications, electrical and mechanical professionals where the maneuverability and transportation of ladders is extremely important. The compact design provides an ideal solution for transporting ladders both inside full size vans and on top of compact vans. They are also convenient for urban contractors who need to secure equipment and materials inside their vehicles.

Portability, Safety and Working Comfort
In the closed position, the 3-piece design makes these Compact Ladders 20-25% shorter than standard 2-piece extension ladders. Easier to maneuver, one person can comfortably move the compact extension ladder around a jobsite. The compact ladders also store easily when not in use. Additionally, in the extended position, more overlapping rung locations provide improved working comfort. The Type IA Compact Fiberglass Extension Ladders are durable and available in the standard 16' - 32' sizes. The fiberglass construction is also essential for professionals working near electrical sources.

“The initial launch of our Aluminum Compact Extension Ladders exceeded our expectations and we are excited to bring a fiberglass version to the professional market”, said Chris Filardi, Vice President of Marketing for Werner Co. “The innovative compact design offers required durability and safety while providing a versatile ladder for professionals on the jobsite.”

The new 3-piece Fiberglass Extension Ladders are available through professional and authorized online Werner distributors. Different types of ladders are designed to keep you safe and productive when climbing or standing. Using the wrong style of ladder or simply ignoring the limitations of climbing equipment can result in a fall or serious injury.
Height reach Height is referring to the actual ladder height. Extension ladders should be 7 to 10 feet longer than the highest support or contact point, which may be the wall or roof line. The highest standing level is four rungs down from the top. The highest permitted standing level on a stepladder is two steps down from the top.

Reach height is the maximum reach assuming a 5’6” person with a vertical 12” reach.
Ladders are designed to safely hold up to a specific amount of weight. The Werner Performance System defines five different capacities using a color and star rating system. The Duty Rating is defined as the maximum safe load capacity of the ladder. A person’s fully clothed weight plus the weight of any tools and materials that are carried onto the ladder must be less than the load capacity.

Performance system
Werner offers ladder made from fiberglass and aluminum. Each material has characteristics which make it best for certain applications, or one material may simply fit the personal preferences of the user. For example, if working around electricity users should select fiberglass products due to their non-conductive side rails.
