is the ladder designed to work off of the steps or only from the platform?

Asked by: Anonymous
The user may choose to work off of the steps of a platform ladder, however the ladder is designed for the user to stand on the platform. The platform provides a large, wide surface to stand on, which provides more comfort for the user when standing for a long period of time.

Ladders are not available in various colors. However, a process known as Glas*Mark is available on the fiberglass rails. A Glas*Mark is a process of imaging a logo into the fiberglass. Please see the Literature section of our website for further information and instructions on the Glas*Mark policy.

Feet Size

Would like to know what the actual size of the feet are for each. Was also wondering if there is a floor accessory available so these ladders can be used on basketguard, that has floor hole openings the size of 1-3/4" x 3-3/4".
Asked by: Anonymous
The rear feet on the P7404 ladder are 2 inches wide by 1.656 inches long, and the front feet are 1.438 inches by 3.27 inches. Grating shoes are available as an accessory that are a longer and wider shoe. The front grating shoe is 3.562 inches by 1.938 inches, and the rear grating shoe is 1.938 inches by 1.938 inches. The grating shoes are the widest available shoe for a step ladder.

Please explain height specifications

The specifications for the P7404 platform ladder say: Height (Size) to Platform: 4' Max. Standing Height: 3'10" I know this is only a two inch difference, but could you please explain what these two different heights are measuring?
Asked by: Anonymous
The P7404 has 4 feet of side rail, from the bottom, going up the side to the platform. However, when the ladder is opened for use, measuring vertically from the ground to top of the platform is 3'10".

5' Platform Ladder

Most ceilings in buildings are at 8'. Do you make a 5' platform ladder (7'overall) so workers don't damage the ceilings when they set up the ladder?
Asked by: Anonymous
We currently do not have a 5' platform ladder. For this application I would recommend our podium ladder model PD6204. It has a platform height of 4', a maximum reach height of 10', and is 6' tall.

Different types of ladders are designed to keep you safe and productive when climbing or standing. Using the wrong style of ladder or simply ignoring the limitations of climbing equipment can result in a fall or serious injury.
Height is referring to the actual ladder height. Extension ladders should be 7 to 10 feet longer than the highest support or contact point, which may be the wall or roof line. The highest standing level is four rungs down from the top. The highest permitted standing level on a stepladder is two steps down from the top.

Reach height is the maximum reach assuming a 5’6” person with a vertical 12” reach.
Ladders are designed to safely hold up to a specific amount of weight. The Werner Performance System defines five different capacities using a color and star rating system. The Duty Rating is defined as the maximum safe load capacity of the ladder. A person’s fully clothed weight plus the weight of any tools and materials that are carried onto the ladder must be less than the load capacity.

Werner offers ladder made from fiberglass and aluminum. Each material has characteristics which make it best for certain applications, or one material may simply fit the personal preferences of the user. For example, if working around electricity users should select fiberglass products due to their non-conductive side rails.
