6200 vs 6300 series

What's the difference between the 6216-2 and 6316-2 extension ladders? Nothing came up while doing a comparison. Does either one have a pulley with rope as photos don't show it? Thanks, Howard
Asked by: Anonymous
The D6200-2 and the D6300-2 are equivalent ladders in features and weight rating. The D6232-2 is an orange fiberglass, and the D6332-2 is a red fiberglass. Neither of the 16ft models come with a rope or pulley.

Is the AC78 stabilizer designed for the D6216-2 ladder?

The Werner website lists ladders the AC78 is NOT to be used with. Would appreciate explicit confirmation for safety, yet with all due respect for the Werner name. The rungs of the extension of the above fiberglass ladder are 13" wide and cylindrical, are 12" apart and are D-rung in shape. Are the AC78 locking latch and grabbing U channel compatible and safe with this ladder? Thank You
Asked by: Anonymous
The AC78 QuickClick Stabilizer is the only stabilizer bar that ther Werner Co recommends using with the D6200-2 series ladders. The attachment points on the stabilizer are designed to be used with the D-rungs.

Extension Ladder Questions

I wish to purchase an extension ladder. I have several questions: ("length" of extension ladders is covered in a very confusing manner on your Web site. It would help if you described how you determine the length you list for each ladder. Show a diagram with the various dimensions listed. Then there would be no questions.) 1. It is entirely unclear how you measure the length of an extension ladder. How is the length you report determined? Obviously the "length" is dependent upon the amount of overlap. Hence what is the minimum overlap you recommend, and what is the overlap for the ladder length you list? 2. If I determine the ladder length needed by measuring the distance from the ground up to the level of the roof how does that translate to the "extension ladder length" that I need? I need to step off the ladder onto the roof. 3. You show several different ladders with identical specifications but different model numbers. Such as D6316-2 and D6216-2. What is the difference between these products? Thank you.

The length of a ladder, step ladder or extension ladder, are determined by the overall length of material rail used to make the ladder. For instance, a 16' ladder has two 8' sections that are assembled together. The maximum working length is the maximum length which a ladder can be extended, there will be overlap in the sections when an extension ladder is raised. For the D6216-2, at the maximum height, there are 3' of overlap when fully extended, making the maximum working height 13'. The ladder will not extend beyond this point, thus making this the maximum height for this particular ladder. The reach height of the ladder is the height at which the average person can reach, including body height and arm length, while standing on the highest standing point during the maximum working length. To determine which ladder you will need for your application, you will need to determine your height to the top support point, and take into account the ladder overlap in sections and the distance the ladder will be away from the wall. To see a chart of this, please visit the support section of our website at http://us.wernerco.com/support/ladder-safety-tips/how-to-choose-a-ladder for further details on the proper ladder for your height.

When the extension ladder is unextended and claw feet in place, the ladder comes to a rest on the feet instead of the locking clamp?

I assume this is intentional?
Asked by: Anonymous
The ladder locks should always be fully engaged when the ladder is in use. When using the ladder with the feet in this position, the fly section should be raised one rung to fully engage the locks.

Different types of ladders are designed to keep you safe and productive when climbing or standing. Using the wrong style of ladder or simply ignoring the limitations of climbing equipment can result in a fall or serious injury.
Height is referring to the actual ladder height. Extension ladders should be 7 to 10 feet longer than the highest support or contact point, which may be the wall or roof line. The highest standing level is four rungs down from the top. The highest permitted standing level on a stepladder is two steps down from the top.

Reach height is the maximum reach assuming a 5’6” person with a vertical 12” reach.
Ladders are designed to safely hold up to a specific amount of weight. The Werner Performance System defines five different capacities using a color and star rating system. The Duty Rating is defined as the maximum safe load capacity of the ladder. A person’s fully clothed weight plus the weight of any tools and materials that are carried onto the ladder must be less than the load capacity.

Werner offers ladder made from fiberglass and aluminum. Each material has characteristics which make it best for certain applications, or one material may simply fit the personal preferences of the user. For example, if working around electricity users should select fiberglass products due to their non-conductive side rails.
