Rated 1 out of 5 by from can not bring it down because the flippers are plastic the plastic flippers catch on the steps so they won't slide past so you can't bring the ladder down. needs metal flippers. bad design.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good ladder, bad rope. This is a good ladder, and as a roofer for the last 25 years I know a thing or two about ladders. The main problem is that when lowering the ladder, the rope tends to track off of the pulley get stuck between the pully and the bracket that holds it to the rung. You are left to either "walk" it down with it stuck in an extended position or push it up to the next rung, lean it in and climb up to the pulley and unjam it. This has been a problem since I bought the ladder, and has happened with nearly all the Werner ladders I have purchased. I seem to remember back in the day that the pulleys were made of METAL, not plastic.

My roof gutters are 28' above ground level. Can I use a 32' extension ladder for gutter cleaning or do I need a 36' ladder?

I'm trying to compare the actual ladders weights, not load capacity.

After 25 years it's time to replace my 24' type 1A fiberglass extension ladders. Borrowing a 28' type 1 aluminum was eye opening as to the weight difference. Where can I compare how much each ladder weighs?

I have a D1332-2. Can I use either the PK70 or PK 80? What is the difference between the two?

The D1300-2 series Aluminum Extension Ladder can use either the PK70-1 or the PK80-2 ladder levelers. The PK80-2 Level Master is an automatic leveler where both legs will adjust to height by setting the ladder on the ground. Installation requires the feet of the ladder to be cut off by using templates to mark the leveler location. The leveling feet become the permanent feet of the ladder. Separate base from fly on ext ladders and safely utilize?

Can all of your aluminum extension ladders be separated (base from the fly) and safely be used individually? Are there only certain ladders (5 star vs 3 star for example) in which this practice is deemed acceptable?

Not all Werner extension ladders may be separated and used as individual ladders. Certain ladders may be separated and used as the base section only, while some the base and the fly section may be used separately. Only some Type IA and Type IAA may be used in this manner. To use the fly section as a single ladder, the ladder must meet codes for a straight ladder, as well as have the proper slip resistant shoes. All instructions for how to properly use the ladder, and which ladders may be used separately are labeled on the side of the ladder.

The longest available single section straight ladder is a 24' aluminum ladder, model number 524-1. This ladder is 20-5/8 inches wide. The longest straight ladder under 17-1/2 inches is the 20' model 520-1.

The D1332-2 Aluminum Extension Ladder weighs 63.5 pounds. The ladder types are defined as the maximum weight which should be on any ladder at a given time. This weight includes the user, plus any tools or materials as well. A Type I ladder is rated for 250 pounds and a Type II ladder is rated for 225 pounds.

Different types of ladders are designed to keep you safe and productive when climbing or standing. Using the wrong style of ladder or simply ignoring the limitations of climbing equipment can result in a fall or serious injury.
Height is referring to the actual ladder height. Extension ladders should be 7 to 10 feet longer than the highest support or contact point, which may be the wall or roof line. The highest standing level is four rungs down from the top. The highest permitted standing level on a stepladder is two steps down from the top.

Reach height is the maximum reach assuming a 5’6” person with a vertical 12” reach.
Ladders are designed to safely hold up to a specific amount of weight. The Werner Performance System defines five different capacities using a color and star rating system. The Duty Rating is defined as the maximum safe load capacity of the ladder. A person’s fully clothed weight plus the weight of any tools and materials that are carried onto the ladder must be less than the load capacity.

Werner offers ladder made from fiberglass and aluminum. Each material has characteristics which make it best for certain applications, or one material may simply fit the personal preferences of the user. For example, if working around electricity users should select fiberglass products due to their non-conductive side rails.
