Rated 3 out of 5 by 1reviewer.
Rated 3 out of 5 by Good ladder, bad rope. This is a good ladder, and as a roofer for the last 25 years I know a thing or two about ladders. The main problem is that when lowering the ladder, the rope tends to track off of the pulley get stuck between the pully and the bracket that holds it to the rung. You are left to either "walk" it down with it stuck in an extended position or push it up to the next rung, lean it in and climb up to the pulley and unjam it. This has been a problem since I bought the ladder, and has happened with nearly all the Werner ladders I have purchased. I seem to remember back in the day that the pulleys were made of METAL, not plastic. April 22, 2013

After 25 years it's time to replace my 24' type 1A fiberglass extension ladders. Borrowing a 28' type 1 aluminum was eye opening as to the weight difference. Where can I compare how much each ladder weighs?

Which material is better to use and store outside year round?

Answer:
One of the main benefits of fiberglass ladders is that they have non-conductive side rails for working around electricity. One down fall to fiberglass ladders is that the ladder rail will weather, as will most materials, when exposed to an outdoor environment. The degree of degradation of surface appearance will be accelerated by warm, moist climates, areas of humidity, and high solar UV radiation. The degree to which damage to the rails is caused needs to be monitored. It is recommended that a fiberglass ladder be maintained to protect the ladder. The aluminum on the aluminum ladders is rust proof. However, there are some parts that may rust over time, depending on the environment. Some of these parts include rivets, nuts and bolts that attach the locks and shoes, and the spur plate on the shoes. When choosing between fiberglass and aluminum it's good to make your choice when thinking about the applications you will be using the ladder with. For additional assistance please contact customer service at 888-523-3370 M-F 8am-5pm EST.

I bought a used D1324-2, 24' extension ladder. I cannot figure out how to hook up the continuous looped rope to the fly section of the ladder. There is a clamp on the rope that appears to attach to the 3/8" rope, but I have not had any success. Please send me a illustration for the proper use of this rope system. Thank you.

Different types of ladders are designed to keep you safe and productive when climbing or standing. Using the wrong style of ladder or simply ignoring the limitations of climbing equipment can result in a fall or serious injury.
Height is referring to the actual ladder height. Extension ladders should be 7 to 10 feet longer than the highest support or contact point, which may be the wall or roof line. The highest standing level is four rungs down from the top. The highest permitted standing level on a stepladder is two steps down from the top.

Reach height is the maximum reach assuming a 5’6” person with a vertical 12” reach.
Ladders are designed to safely hold up to a specific amount of weight. The Werner Performance System defines five different capacities using a color and star rating system. The Duty Rating is defined as the maximum safe load capacity of the ladder. A person’s fully clothed weight plus the weight of any tools and materials that are carried onto the ladder must be less than the load capacity.

Werner offers ladder made from fiberglass and aluminum. Each material has characteristics which make it best for certain applications, or one material may simply fit the personal preferences of the user. For example, if working around electricity users should select fiberglass products due to their non-conductive side rails.
