The PA200 series Aluminum Extension Planks are ideal for use on stepladders, telescoping multiladders, extension trestle ladders and extension and single straight ladders equipped with ladder jacks. Positive stops on the plank prevent overextending. Molded thermo-plastic spacer guides allow for easy open/close action. Made of 2in deep box section extrusions. Heavy end flange/handles for rigidity and ease of operation. Outer flange is open for ladder jack clamps. The extruded cross members are riveted with solid aluminum rivets. Locking mechanism sets the plank in 12in increments. 250 pound load capacity.

About weight rating.

If the plank is rated at 50 pounds per square feet and the plank is at minimum 10 feet long for the bigger one why is only rated to 250 pounds?

When working in a tight space the normal pump jack planks are too long. It would be helpful to be able to use an expandable system to fit the tight dimension.

Like several people who had questions on the PA200 FAQ page, I'm trying to use a MT series telescoping multiladder with a PA200 series plank. The answers to the FAQs on this page are confusing.
a. Wreck 1986 was told the 12" wide PA200 plank series would not work with the MT series ladders and to buy a narrower stage. The PA200 web page states they are compatible with telescoping multi ladders, and Werner does not sell a stage or plank narrower than 12", so this answer seems incorrect.
b. The FAQ from "Jack" states that the PA208 can be used with the MT 17, which contradicts the answer for Wreck 1986.
c. The FAQ from "Bimmerforlife" gives instructions for using a PA200 plank with a MT22,which also contradicts the answer to Wreck 1986.
d. Page 11 of the "Telescoping Multi Ladder" instruction manual gives details for using a single MT ladder as a base for scaffolds, and illustrates this with the use of a PA200 plank.
When I follow the instruction manual for using one MT ladder (separated into two supports) to support a PA200 plank, the narrow (12" wide) end of the plank fits inside the outer ladder section, but not the inner section. As detailed by Wreck 1986, the width of the narrow end of the plank is just over 12 inches, and the width of ladder rails is exactly 12 inches, so the plank will not fit in the inner ladder.
1) How do I fit the PA200 plank into the MT inner ladder section? Which of the FAQs is correct? Is the MT ladder instruction manual wrong? Has my PA200 plank been manufactured to the wrong dimensions?

Answer: 
The PA200 series planks are 14" wide in the middle, where the two sections overlap. When the ends of the plank are extended, the extended ends are 12" wide, which will fit inside of the rails on all of the MT ladders. This plank will have to be used with the ends extended through the rails of the ladder.

I just purchased two MT1-22 multi-position ladders and one PA206 plank. The space between the inner rails of the ladders is exactly 12 inches, but the width of the outer surface of the small ends of the plank is 12-1/18 inch, so the plank does not fit between the rails of the ladders. The width of the long rails of the PA206 is also exactly 12 inches, but the perpendicular aluminum channel on the top and bottom of the PA206 rail ends increases the width to 12-1/8 inch. HOW DO I MAKE THE PA206 FIT INTO THE MT1-22?

The PA206 will not work for this ladder. You will need to purchase a stage that is less than 12".

I just purchased two MT1-22 multi-position ladders and one PA206 plank. Life expectancy is determined on the maintenance, care and storage of your plank. Properly support and restrain plank in transit or storage. Never store material on plank. Always keep plank free of foreign material. Never overload, drop or apply an impact load to plank.

The extension rails on the PA200 series were not manufactured to be removed. For safety purposes we do not suggest removing the extension rails on the PA208.

The 2 ladders used to support the plank do not need to be identical ladders. As long as the plank and ladders are level you can use for your application.

For Position 7, the Self Supported Scaffold, a wooden plank is to be used as stated in the instruction manual. The wooden plank is to be cut to exact fit, and properly tied and secured to the ladder rungs.

Different types of ladders are designed to keep you safe and productive when climbing or standing. Using the wrong style of ladder or simply ignoring the limitations of climbing equipment can result in a fall or serious injury.
Height is referring to the actual ladder height. Extension ladders should be 7 to 10 feet longer than the highest support or contact point, which may be the wall or roof line. The highest standing level is four rungs down from the top. The highest permitted standing level on a stepladder is two steps down from the top.

Reach height is the maximum reach assuming a 5’6” person with a vertical 12” reach.
Ladders are designed to safely hold up to a specific amount of weight. The Werner Performance System defines five different capacities using a color and star rating system. The Duty Rating is defined as the maximum safe load capacity of the ladder. A person’s fully clothed weight plus the weight of any tools and materials that are carried onto the ladder must be less than the load capacity.

Werner offers ladder made from fiberglass and aluminum. Each material has characteristics which make it best for certain applications, or one material may simply fit the personal preferences of the user. For example, if working around electricity users should select fiberglass products due to their non-conductive side rails.
