I can only seem to find info about the RO (25 x 54) for the AH2510. I need to make sure that i can get a water heater through the AH2510's inner frame dimension, also being sure to clear any stair hardware. Will a 22.5" cylinder (that's a 50 gal water heater with latest minimum insulation requirements) pass through inner frame width of this attic ladder, also without contacting the stair hardware length-wise. My guess is that the frame reduces the RO width by 1.5" to 23.5, which allows a full inch of clearance, but no way to tell in the length if the heater goes in at the far end from the hinge - will it clear the support points?

Answer:
Unfortunately there is not an insulated version of the AH2510 ladder. The only model we currently have that is insulated is our AE2210 model. That has a rough opening of 22.5" x 54" and a floor to ceiling height range of 7'8" to 10'3".

I released the struts when installing the attic ladder. I have the ladder installed but the struts have to much pressure on them and I can't reattach them to the ladder. Is there a way to release some of the pressure on the struts?

Answer:
This ladder has requires a rough opening of 22.5 inches by 54 inches. The framework of the ladder is 53.25 inches in length. There is a small amount of play when installing this attic ladder but with a 53" RO we would not suggest installing this attic ladder.

I just purchased a new AH2210B attic ladder with the new strut system. I now need to take the old system down because of a cracked hinge. How do I release the pressure on the strut?

Answers

Answer:
Compressing the strut is a two-person job.
If two struts need to be compressed, perform each step on each gas strut before proceeding to the next step.

Carefully loosen the 4 nuts on the carriage bolts holding the
wooden door to the steel attic ladder. Loosen until they are flush with the end of the carriage bolt. This will allow movement of the door so the gas strut post will not damage the door when it is compressed.

Step 2. Make sure gas strut post is rotated down against plywood door. With gas strut fully extended and one end attached to gas strut post, secure opposite end of gas strut to frame support bolt using lock nut.

Different types of ladders are designed to keep you safe and productive when climbing or standing. Using the wrong style of ladder or simply ignoring the limitations of climbing equipment can result in a fall or serious injury.
Height is referring to the actual ladder height. Extension ladders should be 7 to 10 feet longer than the highest support or contact point, which may be the wall or roof line. The highest standing level is four rungs down from the top. The highest permitted standing level on a stepladder is two steps down from the top.

Reach height is the maximum reach assuming a 5’6” person with a vertical 12” reach.
Ladders are designed to safely hold up to a specific amount of weight. The Werner Performance System defines five different capacities using a color and star rating system. The Duty Rating is defined as the maximum safe load capacity of the ladder. A person’s fully clothed weight plus the weight of any tools and materials that are carried onto the ladder must be less than the load capacity.

Werner offers ladder made from fiberglass and aluminum. Each material has characteristics which make it best for certain applications, or one material may simply fit the personal preferences of the user. For example, if working around electricity users should select fiberglass products due to their non-conductive side rails.
