I purchased your D1200 Series 24 ft. aluminum ladder along with the Quick Click Model No AC78 Ladder stabilizer. The stabilizer appears to be in installed correctly as evident by the upper lock engaged and the stabilizer not moving. However the lower lock pin is striking the bottom of the second rung preventing it from aligning with the second hole.

Answers

Answer:
In the past when this has occurred the stabilizer has been put on backwards. In order to determine if it is on backwards you can simply climb the ladder and if the instructions are facing you on the stabilizer it is installed correctly. If they are on the opposite side then it is backwards.

Why is the AC78 stabilizer not recommended for use on type II 225lb fiberglass ladder. I bought one at Lowes and mounted it on my ladder and it seemed to fit. When I looked at the box I saw that it is not for use on my model of Werner's ladders.

Answer:
We do not suggest using it on a type II ladder due to the amount of stress it can cause on the fly section of the ladder. This is something we suggest for your safety.

Answers

Answer:
The AC78 stabilizer is the stabilizer that would fit your model of ladder. This is a standoff that is to go against the siding of the building and around windows. This will give you a standoff of 10".

When nearing the corner of a building, I would like to be able to adjust the stabilizer bar more to one side. Is this possible? Also, is the span always the same length or can it be adjusted to different lengths?

Different types of ladders are designed to keep you safe and productive when climbing or standing. Using the wrong style of ladder or simply ignoring the limitations of climbing equipment can result in a fall or serious injury.
Height is referring to the actual ladder height. Extension ladders should be 7 to 10 feet longer than the highest support or contact point, which may be the wall or roof line. The highest standing level is four rungs down from the top. The highest permitted standing level on a stepladder is two steps down from the top.

Reach height is the maximum reach assuming a 5’6” person with a vertical 12” reach.
Ladders are designed to safely hold up to a specific amount of weight. The Werner Performance System defines five different capacities using a color and star rating system. The Duty Rating is defined as the maximum safe load capacity of the ladder. A person’s fully clothed weight plus the weight of any tools and materials that are carried onto the ladder must be less than the load capacity.

Werner offers ladder made from fiberglass and aluminum. Each material has characteristics which make it best for certain applications, or one material may simply fit the personal preferences of the user. For example, if working around electricity users should select fiberglass products due to their non-conductive side rails.
