What is OSHA's view on this product??

There is no 3rd point of contact 360° on this ladder. What is being done to comply with this at 4 feet for General Industry and 6 feet for Construction? We always train 3 points are to be maintained with either two feet and one hand or two hands and one foot. Firefighters use leg lock or a ladder belt. I see this question was asked over a month ago and never answered and the other questions where answered in a timely manner. Please answer this question in a timely manner also. Thanks!!

Height of the PD6208 and PDIA08

I asked the height of the two ladders in the closed position and received an answer from Werner that it is 126 11/16 when CLOSED, however on this site someone else asked the same question except the height in the OPEN position, and the answer was the same, 126 11/16. What does OSHA say about having to or not having to comply with 100% tie off when using this type of ladder?

Has there been any interaction between Werner and OSHA about the need for fall protection when using this type of ladder? I am aware that the product provides a measure of fall protection with the product having 3 sides. But what about the open side?
Asked by: Anonymous
If you are referring to "tie off" of the individual in relation to fall protection and the usage of the ladder OSHA does not state the necessity to tie off to our knowledge. You must have three points of contact when utilizing a ladder (two feet and one hand, two feet and your knee, etc...). Thank you for your inquiry.

Different types of ladders are designed to keep you safe and productive when climbing or standing. Using the wrong style of ladder or simply ignoring the limitations of climbing equipment can result in a fall or serious injury.
Height is referring to the actual ladder height. Extension ladders should be 7 to 10 feet longer than the highest support or contact point, which may be the wall or roof line. The highest standing level is four rungs down from the top. The highest permitted standing level on a stepladder is two steps down from the top.

Reach height is the maximum reach assuming a 5’6” person with a vertical 12” reach.
Ladders are designed to safely hold up to a specific amount of weight. The Werner Performance System defines five different capacities using a color and star rating system. The Duty Rating is defined as the maximum safe load capacity of the ladder. A person’s fully clothed weight plus the weight of any tools and materials that are carried onto the ladder must be less than the load capacity.

Werner offers ladder made from fiberglass and aluminum. Each material has characteristics which make it best for certain applications, or one material may simply fit the personal preferences of the user. For example, if working around electricity users should select fiberglass products due to their non-conductive side rails.
