How do you raise and lower the center ladder?

Asked by: JT
To raise and lower the extension section, first the base portion of the ladder needs to be fully opened with the spreaders locked in place. Then the extension portion can be raised by pushing or pulling upward. The ladder will lock at any desired rung. The ladder has a locking mechanism, similar to a gate style, that will secure at any height. To lower the section, first raise the extension about six inches, and release the lock. Lower the ladder to desired height and engage the lock again.

The shipping length on a E7414 is roughly 14'. When you set the ladder up the stepladder portion is 160" tall. Thank you for your inquiry.

my previous question on the E7414 & E7416 was NOT answered

In it I asked about the useable height, not which step was recommended to stand on. Is 11'6" the height of the of the second step from the top? What is the height of the fourth step from the top on the extension? Why is this a secret? As it sure is hard to find the heights.
Asked by: Ctexal
The 11'6" height is the height from the floor to the 2nd step from the top on the E7414. The max standing height on the E7416 is 13.5". The max working height on the E7414 is the extension position (4 rungs from the top) is 18ft. The E7416 max working height in the extension position is 22ft.

What is the height of the top usable step on the E7414 as A frame ? What is the height of the top usable step with extension fully extended?

Same questions for the E7416.
Asked by: Ctexal
The E7400 series of ladder follows the same rules as a stepladder when used in the A frame position, and the same rules as an extension ladder when used in the extension position. When using as a stepladder we do not suggest going any higher than the second step from the top. When using this as an extension, we cannot suggest going any higher than the 4th rung from the top of the ladder.

I have a e7412 ladder and need to get a pair of foot levelers. What do you have that will do the job for me with this ladder?

The floor is slanted so the center point of the ladder is on a slant. I want to level the ladder so that it's straight. I've been using 2 X 6's on the lower section as wedges but don't like that at all. Can you help?
Asked by: RD
Unfortunately we do not manufacture any leg levelers for the E7400 series of ladder. Our leg levelers only fit specific models of extension ladders.

need OSHA approved ladder. Fiberglass

What I really need is a six foot step ladder, however a regular six foot ladder will not fit in my vehicle. Do you sell a ladder that will fold down, but is in fiber glass?
Asked by: walt
We currently do not manufacture a compact 6ft fiberglass step ladder.

Can the trestle part of the ladder be removed to make a 16' stepladder?

Asked by: BJS
The extension trestle section cannot be removed from the ladder. The ladder can be used without extending the trestle section to be used as just a twin sided step ladder.

How high can a person stand and work on this ladder?

Do they need to stop 2 steps down from the knuckle of the A frame or 2 steps down from the top of the extension. In what conditions can 2 people work on the ladder and at what height?
Asked by: Jed Baked
The extension trestle ladder has a variety of acceptable uses. When using the ladder as a step ladder or a twin step ladder, the user cannot climb above the highest labeled step stating where the user can climb. This is the same rule with a step ladder. One user can climb on each side of the ladder, but only the A frame portion, not the extension. A single user may climb the center extension portion of the ladder, following the labels for the maximum allowable height.

Different types of ladders are designed to keep you safe and productive when climbing or standing. Using the wrong style of ladder or simply ignoring the limitations of climbing equipment can result in a fall or serious injury.
Height is referring to the actual ladder height. Extension ladders should be 7 to 10 feet longer than the highest support or contact point, which may be the wall or roof line. The highest standing level is four rungs down from the top. The highest permitted standing level on a stepladder is two steps down from the top.

Reach height is the maximum reach assuming a 5’6” person with a vertical 12” reach.
Ladders are designed to safely hold up to a specific amount of weight. The Werner Performance System defines five different capacities using a color and star rating system. The Duty Rating is defined as the maximum safe load capacity of the ladder. A person’s fully clothed weight plus the weight of any tools and materials that are carried onto the ladder must be less than the load capacity.

Werner offers ladder made from fiberglass and aluminum. Each material has characteristics which make it best for certain applications, or one material may simply fit the personal preferences of the user. For example, if working around electricity users should select fiberglass products due to their non-conductive side rails.
