I am a female homeowner, concerned about weight, ease of assemble and safety. Is this product a good match for a DYI type like myself?

Asked by: Anonymous
The Aluminum Scaffolding Tower does provide a light weight, easy to assemble option for providing a work platform. Each component is assembled individually to create the tower section. Depending on the necessary work height, additional sections can be added to reach the desired height.

What is the max height that can be assembled without the reqirement of a professional engineer?

Ceiling height is 20' What model is recommended? What is the best and safest type acess?
Asked by: Anonymous
The Scaffolding Towers can reach a maximum height of 40 feet when fully assembled with the outriggers included. The rung platforms on the end rails are spaced 16 inches apart, for height adjustability. The 4100-18 series scaffolding has a maximum platform height of 18 feet.

What is the maximum safe height that can be reached with your narrow scaffolding?

I need to reach 43' from a base area that is less than 4 feet wide. There will be minimal room to maneuver. Your previous answer to a similar question was ambiguous. Can this height with your narrow scaffolding be reached safely? Thanks You
Asked by: Anonymous
The maximum allowable height for a scaffolding platform is varied based on the nominal base section dimension and local codes. Most states permit a maximum scaffold platform height not more than 4 times the smaller base dimension of the scaffold or outriggers, while some only permit 3 times. The type of outriggers used can affect the overall height as well, as different outriggers have a larger span. The narrow span scaffolds, in combination with the roller outriggers the maximum platform height is 38 feet.

Scaffold doesn't seem sturdy?

My brand new 4100 series is definitely solid, but it doesn't feel 'safe'. When set up and locked into place it will still move/sway a small distance end-to-end and side-to-side before the supports stop it. Is there any way to remove this 'slop' or excess movement.
Asked by: Anonymous
When the scaffolding towers are assembled, there is a small amount of movement within the components. This small amount of play allows for the scaffold components to be assembled. Be sure all connectors are securely fastened and attached in the correct location per the instructions. If outriggers are being used be sure all outriggers are firmly on the ground to stabilize the scaffold. If the scaffold is moved, all legs and outriggers should be readjusted to ensure the scaffold is still level.

my locking collars are seized from leaving the scaffolding out in the weather. How do you recommend I free them up so I can adjust the caster height?

4100 10 foot scaffold. Locking collets frozen tight cannot turn the caster supports to adjust height.

Different types of ladders are designed to keep you safe and productive when climbing or standing. Using the wrong style of ladder or simply ignoring the limitations of climbing equipment can result in a fall or serious injury.
Height is referring to the actual ladder height. Extension ladders should be 7 to 10 feet longer than the highest support or contact point, which may be the wall or roof line. The highest standing level is four rungs down from the top. The highest permitted standing level on a stepladder is two steps down from the top.

Reach height is the maximum reach assuming a 5’6” person with a vertical 12” reach.
Ladders are designed to safely hold up to a specific amount of weight. The Werner Performance System defines five different capacities using a color and star rating system. The Duty Rating is defined as the maximum safe load capacity of the ladder. A person’s fully clothed weight plus the weight of any tools and materials that are carried onto the ladder must be less than the load capacity.

Werner offers ladder made from fiberglass and aluminum. Each material has characteristics which make it best for certain applications, or one material may simply fit the personal preferences of the user. For example, if working around electricity users should select fiberglass products due to their non-conductive side rails.
