Can all 5500 series planks be use with the AC10-20-02 ladder jack?

Asked by: Anonymous
We do not suggest using the 5500 series planks with ladder jacks. These are manufactured with hooks on the end to fit standard steel scaffolding.

Scaffold plank and extension ladder use on atairs

I have two Werner ladders and a scaffold plank. I need to paint walls in a two story stairwell. Is it appropriate to use one ladder partially on a stair/partially on the first landing (uneven leg length) and the other on a landing above, spanning the two ladders with a plank? I cannot reach the ceiling any other way. Want to know if the ladder rungs on the ladder on the stair will remain parallel so that I can safely place the plank on them, span the distance and place the other end on the second ladder.

You cannot use two extension ladders and a scaffold plank in the manner that you described.

allowable deflection of planks

which factor is used when determining the allowable deflection of your alum. planking? I am performing a job at a nuclear power station and they want to know if you use L/60 or L/240 for your allowable deflection. thank you, Lance Smith design engineer Excel Scaffold

5510-19 aluma planks are tested to the UL 1322- 2010 code. The allowable deflection for a 10’ or less plank is shown in table 8.1 on page 12- 1.5”. Test set up is shown in figure 8. The allowable deflection of 1 side rail is also outlined in table 8.1 along with the maximum allowable angle of twist – deflection 2.5”, twist 12 degrees. Test set up is outlined in figure 9.

This is response to your answer to prev. question

You asked me "Where are you getting the duty rating of 250 lbs.?" Here: 1. look just above on this page in the Specifications provided by Werner: "Load Capacity 250 lbs" 2. that info is repeated on the Werner's label.
Asked by: Anonymous
If you are talking about our catalog, page 44, that is for the PA200 series. Please clarify if this is where you found that information. Just to be clear the 75 lbs. duty rating/Sq. Ft., that is evenly distributed across the plank, not concentrated load.

5607-19 vs 5507-19

what is the difference between 5607-19 & 5507-19
Asked by: Anonymous
The 5607-19 is 19 1/16" wide, the side rail length is 7' and the side rail depth is 2". This is the 2-piece extrude aluma-board. Weighs 30 lbs. The 5507-19 is the aluminum decked aluma-plank. It is 19 1/16" wide, side rail is 7' and side rail depth is 3". Weighs 25 lbs. The rail depth is different, the top of the plank is different and it differs in weight.

Can the Werner ERT-N End Rail and End toe Board Assembly attach to this series of planks

Although designed for stages, the construction of the scaffolding planks looks very simular. Looking for handrail assy, that can be attached to aluminum scaffold plank.
Asked by: Anonymous
The ERT-N is only designed to be attached to the aluminum stages. The aluminum stages have predrilled holes which will allow the end rail to bolt right to the side rail. When using the scaffold planks, these are typically used with a scaffolding system, where the rails are built into the scaffolding tower.

do you make any 7' x 19" aluminum decked planks that have more than a 250 lb. load capacity?

Asked by: Anonymous
Unfortunately we do not manufacture any planks for the dimensions you described. The closest model we manufacture would be the 2508 which is 20"x8'. The duty rating is 500lbs.

Please clarify

We are using Task Master 8 foot aluminum extension plank. The sticker indicates a 250 pound working load. Does that mean we cannot ever have more than 250 pounds per plank? Or in otherwise, we can never have 2 people on the plank?
Asked by: Anonymous
You are correct. The max weight this plank can hold is 250lbs. This would be considered a 1 man plank.

Different types of ladders are designed to keep you safe and productive when climbing or standing. Using the wrong style of ladder or simply ignoring the limitations of climbing equipment can result in a fall or serious injury.
Height is referring to the actual ladder height. Extension ladders should be 7 to 10 feet longer than the highest support or contact point, which may be the wall or roof line. The highest standing level is four rungs down from the top. The highest permitted standing level on a stepladder is two steps down from the top.

Reach height is the maximum reach assuming a 5’6” person with a vertical 12” reach.
Ladders are designed to safely hold up to a specific amount of weight. The Werner Performance System defines five different capacities using a color and star rating system. The Duty Rating is defined as the maximum safe load capacity of the ladder. A person’s fully clothed weight plus the weight of any tools and materials that are carried onto the ladder must be less than the load capacity.

Werner offers ladder made from fiberglass and aluminum. Each material has characteristics which make it best for certain applications, or one material may simply fit the personal preferences of the user. For example, if working around electricity users should select fiberglass products due to their non-conductive side rails.
