D8220-2EQ 20 ft Type IA Fiberglass D-Rung The Equalizer® Extension Ladder is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The quality and safety of this product is unsurpassed. After extensive consideration, I purchased this Werner D8220-2ES because safety and longevity were my primary concerns. I could have gotten by with a 200 lb. aluminum Type 3 rated ladder but felt the 300 lb. fiberglass Type 1A rating would add to the ladder’s overall stability, longevity, and safety. The equalizer level adjustment is an incredibly useful safety feature, especially since my home is built on gently sloping property. I added the AC78 stabilizer, which makes this ladder absolutely rock solid at any height. I wasn’t sure how easy this commercial, heavy-duty ladder would be to manipulate for a single person, but as a 61 year old, I can easily lift the ladder over my head, walk it around my home, and swing it into any position against my home with no problem at all. With the attached AC78 stabilizer, climbing up the ladder feels like I am walking up a concrete staircase. This ladder is a gem.

Accessory for D8224-2EQ ladder - what do I use to avoid leaning against the gutter?

What accessory do I use with the D8224-2EQ ladder to avoid the ladder resting against the gutter?
Asked by: Noncorporeal
The AC78 stabilizer is the stabilizer that would fit your model of ladder. This is a standoff that is to go against the siding of the building and around windows. This will give you a standoff of 10".

Length of Extension Ladder Stored

I am looking at extension ladders D class and I don't see anything about the length when the ladder is not extended. The reason is that I have limited storage space in my garage. About 12 feet suspended from ceiling brackets. Fits a 12 foot step ladder perfectly, but without the key piece of information for an extension ladder I don't know which way to go. Thanks, Greg

Different types of ladders are designed to keep you safe and productive when climbing or standing. Using the wrong style of ladder or simply ignoring the limitations of climbing equipment can result in a fall or serious injury.
Height is referring to the actual ladder height. Extension ladders should be 7 to 10 feet longer than the highest support or contact point, which may be the wall or roof line. The highest standing level is four rungs down from the top. The highest permitted standing level on a stepladder is two steps down from the top.

Reach height is the maximum reach assuming a 5’6” person with a vertical 12” reach.
Ladders are designed to safely hold up to a specific amount of weight. The Werner Performance System defines five different capacities using a color and star rating system. The Duty Rating is defined as the maximum safe load capacity of the ladder. A person’s fully clothed weight plus the weight of any tools and materials that are carried onto the ladder must be less than the load capacity.

Werner offers ladder made from fiberglass and aluminum. Each material has characteristics which make it best for certain applications, or one material may simply fit the personal preferences of the user. For example, if working around electricity users should select fiberglass products due to their non-conductive side rails.
