What kind of cord/rope do I buy to extend a 40 ft. fiberglass heavy duty ladder (300 lbs)?

The Werner Co does offer a replacement rope kit for all of the extension ladders. Typically the rope is a polypropylene of varying diameters, depending on the ladder.

How to reseal the fiberglass

I have had this ladder for a few years and now everytime I use it I itch from coming in contact with the fiberglass. It is just like coming into contact with the fiberglass insulation of old. Can I reseal the ladder, if so, with what?
Asked by: James79761
The Werner Co. does recommend that you refinish or recoat a fiberglass ladder. Below you will see a link to the fiberglass technical manual located on our website. Starting on page 5 of the manual it does go into great detail about the process for recoating the fiberglass ladder. First you will go over the surface of the ladder with a light abrasive, then wash the ladder. Then using one of the three acceptable coatings, you will cover the fiberglass. Anything with a colored pigment in it will add protection to from the UV rays, however it is not necessary. Either way, recoating the ladder will result in keeping the fiberglass particles from irritating your skin, and prolong the life of the ladder. Depending on where the ladder is stored, I do recommend doing this at least once, if not twice a year to maintain the ladder. http://us.wernerco.com/support/literature/catalogs-resources

Different types of ladders are designed to keep you safe and productive when climbing or standing. Using the wrong style of ladder or simply ignoring the limitations of climbing equipment can result in a fall or serious injury.
Height is referring to the actual ladder height. Extension ladders should be 7 to 10 feet longer than the highest support or contact point, which may be the wall or roof line. The highest standing level is four rungs down from the top. The highest permitted standing level on a stepladder is two steps down from the top.

Reach height is the maximum reach assuming a 5’6” person with a vertical 12” reach.
Ladders are designed to safely hold up to a specific amount of weight. The Werner Performance System defines five different capacities using a color and star rating system. The Duty Rating is defined as the maximum safe load capacity of the ladder. A person’s fully clothed weight plus the weight of any tools and materials that are carried onto the ladder must be less than the load capacity.

Werner offers ladder made from fiberglass and aluminum. Each material has characteristics which make it best for certain applications, or one material may simply fit the personal preferences of the user. For example, if working around electricity users should select fiberglass products due to their non-conductive side rails.
