D6228-3 28 ft Type IA Fiberglass D-Rung Extension Ladder is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Two weight factors to keep in mind Because of the three-section design, you have to pull up 2/3 the weight of the ladder when you extend it standing (versus 1/2 for a two-section ladder). At 81 lbs for the 28' model D6228-3 type 1A, that means you have to hoist up 54 lbs on the extension rope (versus 40 lbs for the two-section). That's also more top-heavy weight making it more difficult to keep it stable as you set up. When I have room, I extend the first section while the ladder is on the ground, then stand it up and extend the top section as needed for reach. It does not slide easily making it rather tricky compared to my old two-sectional aluminum ladder. It's OK for occasional use, but consider carefully if this is a daily use item for your job, as it is for me.

Cable Hook/V-Rung

Twice in answers you stated that these ladders would work with an A92 or 92-92 V-Rung/Cable Hook. However your site lists no such product. Is this accessory only available as a special order, discontinued, or can the 92-91 which appears to be the correct width be used with the 6228-3. Can some combination of 74-1 and 71-4 be made to work? Is the only problem with installing the V-Rung/Cable Hook version 92-91 that the ladder will not fully close the last 6 inches when that accessory is installed in the 6228-3; however the holes line up?
Asked by: Discontinued Accessory?
The D6200-3 is the three section extension ladder, which has a top fly section that has rails that are facing the opposite direction as the two section. The 92-92 is a new accessory that is designed specifically for the three section ladders, to fit in the orientation of the rails, and to accommodate the larger gap between the rails.

Separating the sections

In your Performance Overview for the 3 section ladders ,you state, "The base and fly sections separate easily to use the base section as a single ladder". ,But when asked in this FAQ, you answer, "The sections of the three piece compact fiberglass extension ladder should not be disassembled. The sections are not designed to be used as single sections." The 3 piece would be more valuable and versatile if the sections could be pulled apart . Which is correct the Overview or the FAQ answer?
Asked by: hvacman
The D6200-3 ladder unfortunately does not separate so you can use the base section as a single straight ladder. The D6200-2 series of ladder can be separated and you can use the base section as a single straight ladder.

Different types of ladders are designed to keep you safe and productive when climbing or standing. Using the wrong style of ladder or simply ignoring the limitations of climbing equipment can result in a fall or serious injury.
Height is referring to the actual ladder height. Extension ladders should be 7 to 10 feet longer than the highest support or contact point, which may be the wall or roof line. The highest standing level is four rungs down from the top. The highest permitted standing level on a stepladder is two steps down from the top.

Reach height is the maximum reach assuming a 5’6” person with a vertical 12” reach.
Ladders are designed to safely hold up to a specific amount of weight. The Werner Performance System defines five different capacities using a color and star rating system. The Duty Rating is defined as the maximum safe load capacity of the ladder. A person’s fully clothed weight plus the weight of any tools and materials that are carried onto the ladder must be less than the load capacity.

Werner offers ladder made from fiberglass and aluminum. Each material has characteristics which make it best for certain applications, or one material may simply fit the personal preferences of the user. For example, if working around electricity users should select fiberglass products due to their non-conductive side rails.
