D6224-2 24 ft Type IA Fiberglass D-Rung Extension Ladder is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not impressed the metal guide that keeps the 2 pieces together jumped the track, basically nullifying the ability to extend it. Have tried multiple ways to fix it to no avail.I am a large man and need a large capacity extension ladder, but this has not worked out, for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent quality with an excellent price. Purchased this a few months ago and appreciate the stability which standard aluminum ladders can't seem to provide.

When the extension ladder is unextended and claw feet in place, the ladder comes to a rest on the feet instead of the locking clamp?

I assume this is intentional?
Asked by: plumsmooth
The ladder locks should always be fully engaged when the ladder is in use. When using the ladder with the feet in this position, the fly section should be raised one rung to fully engage the locks.

For D6224-2-24, can the BASE & FLY sections easily be detached / re-attaced to facilitate storage? Where are instructions on how to this?

You recommend not storing ladders via straps in order to prevent twisting and bowing. Lying them on edge on a flat surface with the FLY stacked atop the BASE would minimize pressure points and minimize use of floor space. Can I stack the FLY section on top of the BASE section? Stacking allows the two pieces to hug a wall, and if on a ledge, makes it easier to lift them individually. However, its been impossible to find instructions on how to detach the Fly Section and properly reassemble the sections.

Exposure to the sunlight and weathering can affect resin coating on a fiberglass ladder. A ladder left in these conditions can experience a Surface Weathering or Fiber Bloom. In this situation it is recommended to recoat the ladder. Different types of ladders are designed to keep you safe and productive when climbing or standing. Using the wrong style of ladder or simply ignoring the limitations of climbing equipment can result in a fall or serious injury.
Height is referring to the actual ladder height. Extension ladders should be 7 to 10 feet longer than the highest support or contact point, which may be the wall or roof line. The highest standing level is four rungs down from the top. The highest permitted standing level on a stepladder is two steps down from the top.

Reach height is the maximum reach assuming a 5’6” person with a vertical 12” reach.
Ladders are designed to safely hold up to a specific amount of weight. The Werner Performance System defines five different capacities using a color and star rating system. The Duty Rating is defined as the maximum safe load capacity of the ladder. A person’s fully clothed weight plus the weight of any tools and materials that are carried onto the ladder must be less than the load capacity.

Werner offers ladder made from fiberglass and aluminum. Each material has characteristics which make it best for certain applications, or one material may simply fit the personal preferences of the user. For example, if working around electricity users should select fiberglass products due to their non-conductive side rails.
