How do I deal with a mild case of "fiber bloom" on this ladder?

The smooth finish on my ladder is starting to wear off, so that when my arms rub up against the rails, I get an itchy feeling afterwards. The ladder is not very old, but it has been sitting outside in the sun and rain all the time. The ladder has retained its structural integrity. There is no damage or significant wear, that would make the ladder unsafe in any way. I would like to know the best way to coat or seal the rails, so that the fibers do not irritate my skin. Please don't suggest that I just wear long sleeved shirts. Thank you

It is recommended to refinish or recoat a fiberglass ladder as part of maintenance to be done to the ladder. Under the Support section, and then the Literature, the Fiberglass Technical Manual gives a detailed description on the process for coating the ladders. First you will go over the surface of the ladder with a light abrasive, and then wash the ladder. Then using one of the three acceptable coatings, you will cover the fiberglass. All three coatings are described in the manual.

My original question was "What is the inside rail width at the top rung"

I want to know the inside diameter of the rails at the top rung. You can also add the same request for information for the D8224-2EQ.
Asked by: RiRi
The inside dimensions of the rung are approximately 13 5/8" L x 3/32" W.

D Rung

Can you please answer a question although it may sound dumb? I am electrician in nyc and have worked on a lot of ladders and now I need one for home use. I need an extension ladder but here’s the question I really have no clue about. Some say D Rung some don’t. without a doubt, I need a fiberglass but have never really looked deeply at them. So, what is the different with a d Rung extension ladder? I’ll give you to item I am looking at. FE2020-2 20 ft Fiberglass Multi Section Extension Ladder & D5920-2 20 ft Type II Fiberglass D-Rung Extension Ladder. Please enlighten me, is one more less prove to slipping out from under you or is one more comfortable on the feet standing on it?
Asked by: 2shoes
D-rung ladders have a D shaped rung so it is more comfortable when you are standing on It

Different types of ladders are designed to keep you safe and productive when climbing or standing. Using the wrong style of ladder or simply ignoring the limitations of climbing equipment can result in a fall or serious injury.
Height is referring to the actual ladder height. Extension ladders should be 7 to 10 feet longer than the highest support or contact point, which may be the wall or roof line. The highest standing level is four rungs down from the top. The highest permitted standing level on a stepladder is two steps down from the top.

Reach height is the maximum reach assuming a 5’6” person with a vertical 12” reach.
Ladders are designed to safely hold up to a specific amount of weight. The Werner Performance System defines five different capacities using a color and star rating system. The Duty Rating is defined as the maximum safe load capacity of the ladder. A person’s fully clothed weight plus the weight of any tools and materials that are carried onto the ladder must be less than the load capacity.

Werner offers ladder made from fiberglass and aluminum. Each material has characteristics which make it best for certain applications, or one material may simply fit the personal preferences of the user. For example, if working around electricity users should select fiberglass products due to their non-conductive side rails.
