The D524-2 24 ft aluminum extension ladders have a duty rating of 375 pounds and feature the exclusive ALFLO® rung joint for a TWIST-PROOF® performance every time. The end caps are mar resistant and notched for easy separation of sections. Both the base and the fly sections can be used separately. Internal guides increase the ease of operation when raising and lowering. The feet are heavy-duty, self-aligning and free swinging for hard or penetrable surfaces. Rugged spring-loaded locks operate smoothly. TRACTION-TRED® D rungs are slip resistant. Duty rating changes to 300 pounds for 36 ft-48 ft models.

The collapsed length of my fiberglas extension ladder is approx. 12'-6". What length would this ladder be considered?

The length of a ladder is measured by the total length of the rails, both sections. If both sections of the ladder are 12 feet long, this would be a 24 foot ladder.

Is this ladder comparable to the Model D13282 [250# limit], or is another current model more similar? I am looking for a similar quality ladder.

The D524-2 is a 24ft 375lb rated extension ladder. For an aluminum 250lb rated extension ladder you will need the D1328-2 for 28', and D1324-2 for 24'.

Does this ladder meet NFPA 1932 requirements?

The NFPA 1932 requires that the ladder be rated for 750 pound load rating. The D524-2 ladder is only rated for 375 pounds.

if the ladder has a bend in it is it still usable. are there any guidlines to follow?

Unfortunately in this case the ladder will need to be taken out of service. Any kind of bend in the ladder will compromise the strength and stability of it, and it can no longer be used.

is there a top v rung or pole lash that will fit this ladder?

need to use ladder to trim palm fronds, need to secure top of ladder to palm trunk

The V-Rung and Pole Lash assemblies are only designed to be used with fiberglass ladders. These accessories are typically used on a utility pole, where electricty is present and aluminum ladders should not be used. The fiberglass ladders have the predrilled holes to allow for adding accessories to the top of the ladder.

can I purches rang lock 0nly?

one of my ladder rang lock is broken. when I push the ladder up, it locks and does not come down because of that lock. how much it coast each? Also it is very hard to push up and even harder to come down. Is there any lubricant to go up and down smooth? please advise. thanx

What is "MT" Series?

In a previous question a customer asked what the country of manufacture is? Werner answer "MT" ladders are made in Mexico. How do we know what an "MT" series ladder is? The Model is series D500. Where are the D500 Type 1AA ladders made?

Different types of ladders are designed to keep you safe and productive when climbing or standing. Using the wrong style of ladder or simply ignoring the limitations of climbing equipment can result in a fall or serious injury.
Height is referring to the actual ladder height. Extension ladders should be 7 to 10 feet longer than the highest support or contact point, which may be the wall or roof line. The highest standing level is four rungs down from the top. The highest permitted standing level on a stepladder is two steps down from the top.

Reach height is the maximum reach assuming a 5’6” person with a vertical 12” reach.
Ladders are designed to safely hold up to a specific amount of weight. The Werner Performance System defines five different capacities using a color and star rating system. The Duty Rating is defined as the maximum safe load capacity of the ladder. A person’s fully clothed weight plus the weight of any tools and materials that are carried onto the ladder must be less than the load capacity.

Werner offers ladder made from fiberglass and aluminum. Each material has characteristics which make it best for certain applications, or one material may simply fit the personal preferences of the user. For example, if working around electricity users should select fiberglass products due to their non-conductive side rails.
