Using the Equalizer extensions

When I need to use the Equalizer extension on one side, should I be using the Equalizer extensions on both sides, adjusting until level to provide a firm stability of the ladder.? I notice if you only engage one side of the equalizer extension, you really need to make sure the non extended side is pushed down beyond the plastic sleeve at the base to insure it is down as far as it will go. What do you recommend to insure best stability?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes you need to make sure, if necessary, that both sides are utilized to ensure a level climbing situation. The pins have to be inserted into the leveling legs on each side when using the ladder.

Dual Action Feet

Some pictures show the ladders feet in different positions. One foot is down and the other foot is up. Please explain the proper positioning of this ladders feet. Does the one foot have to be in the closed or up position when using the adjuster, while the other foot is deployed or down??
Asked by: Anonymous
When using the D1824-2EQ on hard or penetrable surfaces outside, you can place the foot in the "up and down" position to get a better grip when using. If you are using the ladder on a flat surface such a cement, blacktop, any kind of flooring, etc, it is most common to use the foot in the "flat position".

Which ladder jacks work with this ladder?

Asked by: Anonymous
You will need to check with your local OSHA, to see if it meets their requirements. The D1824-2 will work with any of our ladder jacks. The Equalizer will have to be approved by them.

That is correct we only offer this accessory for fiberglass ladders. It is not an option on aluminum ladders being they are conductive. Thank you for your inquiry.

Different types of ladders are designed to keep you safe and productive when climbing or standing. Using the wrong style of ladder or simply ignoring the limitations of climbing equipment can result in a fall or serious injury.
Height is referring to the actual ladder height. Extension ladders should be 7 to 10 feet longer than the highest support or contact point, which may be the wall or roof line. The highest standing level is four rungs down from the top. The highest permitted standing level on a stepladder is two steps down from the top.

Reach height is the maximum reach assuming a 5’6” person with a vertical 12” reach.
Ladders are designed to safely hold up to a specific amount of weight. The Werner Performance System defines five different capacities using a color and star rating system. The Duty Rating is defined as the maximum safe load capacity of the ladder. A person’s fully clothed weight plus the weight of any tools and materials that are carried onto the ladder must be less than the load capacity.

Werner offers ladder made from fiberglass and aluminum. Each material has characteristics which make it best for certain applications, or one material may simply fit the personal preferences of the user. For example, if working around electricity users should select fiberglass products due to their non-conductive side rails.
