D1516-2 16 ft Type IA Aluminum D-Rung Extension Ladder is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from A beast of a ladder I originally purchased this ladder about 10 years ago to help repair my roof. I recently sold it in near mint condition to a contractor that drove almost 3 hours to buy it from me for 300.00 cash! The workmanship and quality of this ladder was unbelievable. It was built like a tank. Thanks!

is this ladder rated at 300 lbs when used with moving rail on bottom as well as on the top?

I have a special use application and need to use the ladder NOT as pictured above but rolled 180 degrees - top still at top. Rating in this position?
Asked by: Jimmie
The ladder is designed, tested, and rated to be used so that fly, or upper moving section of the ladder, is used on the top of the base section. It is not advised to use the ladder in any other manner than its intended use.

Do you make a 20 inch wide extension ladder

most extension ladders are about 17 inches wide inside I was wondering if they make one 20 inches wide
Asked by: Jerry
We do not manufacture any extension ladders with a 16ft height with a 20 inch width. If you were to see the D520-2 which is a 20ft extension ladder, the base width would be 19 1/8".

weather resistance

Hi at home depot website they have comparison charts to your company's extension ladders.. what i saw between 2 32ft ladders is the last point where one is weather resistance and the other isn't. can you please indicate what's the difference, between these two ladders beside the weather resistance and of course the working load weight. D1332-2 and D1532-2.. i'm a home owner with my gutter height of 24'8". i will be using this ladder to clean gutters and check my roofs. not in use i will be hanging the ladder inside my garage wall (out of the elements).

The aluminum on the ladders is rust proof. However, there are some parts that may rust over time, depending on the environment. Some of these parts include rivets, nuts and bolts that attach the locks and shoes, and the spur plate on the shoes. This is true for both the D1332-2 and the D1532-2. They are made with the same type of aluminum. Besides the duty rating the only real difference would be that the D1532-2 uses a guide bracket to attach the base section to the fly section. The D1332-2 has interlocked rails. You can also separate the D1532-2 and use the base section as a straight ladder.

do I need to tighten the leg base levelers of the ladder?

The leg levelers seem very loose and I understand are meant to rotate according to the angle relative to the distance from the wall onto which to ladder will be leaning against, however, my question is if any tightening is necessary before using it. The nuts and bolts holding them seem to be fixed already and are not loose, but have some side play, so this is why I am asking this question.
Asked by: Tom
The feet will have a small amount of play. They do not need to be tightened down

Where is this ladder (D1536-2) built?

I ordered one of these from Lowes, but when I went to pick it up, it was damaged. So I re-ordered it. This ladder takes a full month to deliver, so I am two months (hopefully) getting it.

Need tips on reassembling this ladder

I needed to use one of the 16' sections and it came apart easy enough, but reassembling it is a bit challenging. Any suggestions? Thank you.
Asked by: Karen
To reassemble the D1500 series ladders, first make sure the base and the fly sections are oriented in the same direction. Then, starting at the bottom of the base section, slide the fly section up until all guides engage. Be sure all guides have fully engaged, and slide the fly section up until the rung locks are secured. Once the ladder is assembled, reattach the rope, and raise and lower the ladder to ensure it operates properly.

Different types of ladders are designed to keep you safe and productive when climbing or standing. Using the wrong style of ladder or simply ignoring the limitations of climbing equipment can result in a fall or serious injury.
Height is referring to the actual ladder height. Extension ladders should be 7 to 10 feet longer than the highest support or contact point, which may be the wall or roof line. The highest standing level is four rungs down from the top. The highest permitted standing level on a stepladder is two steps down from the top.

Reach height is the maximum reach assuming a 5’6” person with a vertical 12” reach.
Ladders are designed to safely hold up to a specific amount of weight. The Werner Performance System defines five different capacities using a color and star rating system. The Duty Rating is defined as the maximum safe load capacity of the ladder. A person’s fully clothed weight plus the weight of any tools and materials that are carried onto the ladder must be less than the load capacity.

Werner offers ladder made from fiberglass and aluminum. Each material has characteristics which make it best for certain applications, or one material may simply fit the personal preferences of the user. For example, if working around electricity users should select fiberglass products due to their non-conductive side rails.
