D1224-3 24 ft Type II Compact Aluminum D-Rung Extension is rated 2.8 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ladder size is confusing The specifications on the ladder say it's "maximum reach" is 15 feet, however; the fine print defines maximum reach as a 5'6" person with a 6'6" reach standing on the top, safe ladder rung. The actual maximum reach of "the ladder" itself is 13 feet. At 13 feet, the ladder did not extend the distance that I needed. The only way to find out the maximum ladder reach is to open it in the store and measure it prior to purchase. As such, this ladder was unacceptable and I needed to return it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It fit into my Prius It fit into my Prius and that is what it is all about.Any longer ladder would have required spending money on a rental truck. It is all about the storage size!Just used it outside and had no issues with it

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for household projects if you don't care to spend much more for commercial grade. Before purchasing I read the reviews. One said the ladder was wobbly. I enlisted a friend to spot for me to stabilize it. The next time I used it he was not available so I came up with a solution...I suspended a 5-gallon bucket of water with a bungie chord from one of the rungs and that seemed to dampen the wobble.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not 16 foot Read the sign on the ladder and it says it's 16 foot. What they meant to say is it's 13 foot and you can safely reach up to 16 foot. It's shorter than I need and what I intended to do with it!

does this ladder accept pole / tree climbing accessoires like v-rung or pole strap?

I would like to use that ladder to trim some tall branches, and I would prefer to use the ladder safely. I don't want to buy fiberglass ladder since I'm not dealing with any electric poles, and I'm mildly on a budget.
Asked by: Jan
Aluminum ladders are not designed to be used with the V-Rung kit. The fiberglass ladders have predrilled holes in the top of the ladder to install accessories such as the V-Rung. The V-Rung is designed to be used on utility poles, around electricty. Aluminum ladders should never be used around electricty.

No ropes?

I just saw this ladder in person at my local home store. How do you extend it since it has no ropes or pulleys?
Asked by: Derek
The D1224-3 three piece aluminum extension ladder is not equipped with a rope and pulley. The three sections of the ladder are 9 feet long each. The fly sections of the ladder are raised 6 feet up the base section. The rope is not necessary because these sections can be reached by hand to lower the ladder.

Which of the given "lengths" is the actual physical extended length?

Asked by: Taylor
Extension ladders have many different height measurements to look at when considering the proper ladder for the job. The maximum working length, or the maximum extended length, is the maximum length to which the ladder can be extended. This maximum length accounts for overlap in sections when the ladder is fully extended.

Is there an aluminum 32' version with 3 sections? D1232-3?

An aluminum 32 foot 3 section version of this ladder would be really useful.
Asked by: Anonymous
In the D1200-3 series, only two sizes are available, D1216-3 and D1224-3. The only 32 foot compact extension ladder available is in fiberglass, the D6232-3.

Will the AC78 stabilizer fit a D1224-3 ladder? If yes, will the ladder lower all the way if you remove the stabilizer arm but leave the bracket?

Asked by: Steve
Installing the AC78 stabilizer bar on the D1224-3 ladder will not allow the ladder to close all the way without first removing the stabilizer. The AC78 stabilizer is the QuickClick stabilizer, that is made for quick and easy install and removal from the ladder.

Can I get a 28ft. or 30ft. long ladder in this same compact style?

I already have the three section ladder that extends to 23ft. and love it but I really want one with maybe 4 section that will reach longer. I carry a 28ft 2 section ladder on top of my car and its really to long to carry it that way. I love the 9ft one that extends to 23ft. Just wish it was taller. Thanks Paul Bluew

What is the compacted length and actual weight?

You don't have compacted/closed length for any of your compact or folding ladders, nor do you list the actual weight. As an insurance adjuster, working by myself, this is important. Thanks

Different types of ladders are designed to keep you safe and productive when climbing or standing. Using the wrong style of ladder or simply ignoring the limitations of climbing equipment can result in a fall or serious injury.
Height is referring to the actual ladder height. Extension ladders should be 7 to 10 feet longer than the highest support or contact point, which may be the wall or roof line. The highest standing level is four rungs down from the top. The highest permitted standing level on a stepladder is two steps down from the top.

Reach height is the maximum reach assuming a 5’6” person with a vertical 12” reach.
Ladders are designed to safely hold up to a specific amount of weight. The Werner Performance System defines five different capacities using a color and star rating system. The Duty Rating is defined as the maximum safe load capacity of the ladder. A person’s fully clothed weight plus the weight of any tools and materials that are carried onto the ladder must be less than the load capacity.

Werner offers ladder made from fiberglass and aluminum. Each material has characteristics which make it best for certain applications, or one material may simply fit the personal preferences of the user. For example, if working around electricity users should select fiberglass products due to their non-conductive side rails.
