Additional Models

WU2210 22.5 in W x 54 in L x 8-10 ft H Ceiling Wood Attic Ladder is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well, needs thicker base, & not an easy install alone. Overall a good buy and when installed does the job quiet well. The 1/4" x 21" x 54" base cover is flimsy to say the least. It is not load bearing, but is very fragile during installation. Don't kid yourself; this is not an easy job, especially if one decides to do it alone. Trying to position the ladder unit into a very tight space from within an attic space while in a precarious position is not ideal. A second hand with some muscle and a lot of time might have helped. Easily a two day job. When complete, works well and beats climbing in an attic space while standing on the top run of a folding step ladder. Good long term investment.

Does Werner make a attic ladder that meets firecode?

I have one in my home now that we are selling and was told by the inspector that the ladder doesn't meet the fire rating code and must replace it. Or is there a work around?

Question regarding rough opening

I have a rough opening of 22.25 x 54. Will that work? or do I need that extra quarter inch?
Asked by: Mike
The WU2210 Attic Ladder has a frame work dimension of 53-1/4 inches by 22 inches. The rough opening should be 22-1/2" wide to all for squaring and adjust the frame after the ladder is set into the rough opening.

Actual Width

What is the actual width of the framing. I am at 22 1/8 wide. I see shims in the video. I may be able to expand the joists or trim a little too. Thanks.
Asked by: stan
The frame work of the WU2210 is 22 inches wide by 53-1/4 inches long. The shims should be used to square the frame after the ladder has been placed into the opening.

Different types of ladders are designed to keep you safe and productive when climbing or standing. Using the wrong style of ladder or simply ignoring the limitations of climbing equipment can result in a fall or serious injury.
Height is referring to the actual ladder height. Extension ladders should be 7 to 10 feet longer than the highest support or contact point, which may be the wall or roof line. The highest standing level is four rungs down from the top. The highest permitted standing level on a stepladder is two steps down from the top.

Reach height is the maximum reach assuming a 5’6” person with a vertical 12” reach.
Ladders are designed to safely hold up to a specific amount of weight. The Werner Performance System defines five different capacities using a color and star rating system. The Duty Rating is defined as the maximum safe load capacity of the ladder. A person’s fully clothed weight plus the weight of any tools and materials that are carried onto the ladder must be less than the load capacity.

Werner offers ladder made from fiberglass and aluminum. Each material has characteristics which make it best for certain applications, or one material may simply fit the personal preferences of the user. For example, if working around electricity users should select fiberglass products due to their non-conductive side rails.
