I have a 2508 and when the ladder is down, it springs back up with the bottom piece folding inward.

The bottom section will spring back up and in when the ladder is down. When I'm up in the attic, it is very dangerous coming down as the ladder is not fully extended. It has sprung back up. What can I do to it to keep it from doing that. It is 8 years old and didn't use to do that.

Are these ladders labeled for commercial installations?

The installation is for access to a water heater in an attic space at the rear of a retail lease space.
Asked by: Elizabeth
The Werner Attic Ladders are only designed for residential use. The ladders are made to meet ANSI standards, but not OSHA commercial codes.

Trying to decide between the WH2208 and the W2208. I know the H model is rated 100 lbs more, but what are the differences in the contruction of each?

The people who will be using the ladder are not large, so the 350-lb rating isn't necessary. However I want a ladder that will be sturdy and hold together well. Wondering if the extra cost of the H model is worth it.
Asked by: Stormy
The lumber used on the W series is a 1 x 4, the lumber used on the WH series is a 1 x 5. So basically the ladder rail is larger and stronger on the WH ladders which make it a heavier duty ladder.

vertical installation

Which model would be best suited for a vertical installation application?
Asked by: corey
We currently do not manufacture any type of telescoping or vertical attic ladders. Closest to this we have is our model AA1510B which will have a 68-80 degree angle when installed.

Different types of ladders are designed to keep you safe and productive when climbing or standing. Using the wrong style of ladder or simply ignoring the limitations of climbing equipment can result in a fall or serious injury.
Height is referring to the actual ladder height. Extension ladders should be 7 to 10 feet longer than the highest support or contact point, which may be the wall or roof line. The highest standing level is four rungs down from the top. The highest permitted standing level on a stepladder is two steps down from the top.

Reach height is the maximum reach assuming a 5’6” person with a vertical 12” reach.
Ladders are designed to safely hold up to a specific amount of weight. The Werner Performance System defines five different capacities using a color and star rating system. The Duty Rating is defined as the maximum safe load capacity of the ladder. A person’s fully clothed weight plus the weight of any tools and materials that are carried onto the ladder must be less than the load capacity.

Werner offers ladder made from fiberglass and aluminum. Each material has characteristics which make it best for certain applications, or one material may simply fit the personal preferences of the user. For example, if working around electricity users should select fiberglass products due to their non-conductive side rails.
