W2208 22.5 in W x 54 in L x 8 ft H Ceiling Wood Attic Ladder is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well, needs thicker base, & not an easy install alone. Overall a good buy and when installed does the job quiet well. The 1/4" x 21" x 54" base cover is flimsy to say the least. It is not load bearing, but is very fragile during installation. Don't kid yourself; this is not an easy job, especially if one decides to do it alone. Trying to position the ladder unit into a very tight space from within an attic space while in a precarious position is not ideal. A second hand with some muscle and a lot of time might have helped. Easily a two day job. When complete, works well and beats climbing in an attic space while standing on the top run of a folding step ladder. Good long term investment.

Pivot plate rivet

I need to replace the hinge mechanism on w2208. I know I will need to order the set of 2 but the rivet on the pivot plate snapped off. Direction say to keep rivet plate and drill into the rivet to allow for the screw etc. Can I still use the existing pivet plate with the screw and bolt to connect the replacement hinge assembly, even though the rivet is not there. The screw would then be the pivet
Asked by: Mary
Yes we suggest that you use the existing pivot plate when installing the new mechanisms.

Replacing the existing support arms begins by detaching the spring from the support arm, removing the bolt attached to the ladder, and removing the rivet attaching the arm to the ladder frame. Will your model w2208 Access Ldr Mech Repl Kit fit my Keller 2208 ladder and work properly? The w2208 part looks different than my original.

Current ladder = Keller 2208 Broken arm that attaches spring to ladder, left side facing the extended ladder.
Asked by: Gary
If your Keller ladder is older than 2000 then no the replacement arms will not work. Unfortunately the Keller Ladder Company went out of business in the late 1990s and Werner bought the name only in 2000. We do not offer parts for Keller ladders manufactured prior to 2000. Thank you for your inquiry.

Replacement hinge for W2208

I How can I repair the hinge (somehow got bent) when the "pivot plate's bolt" is a Rivet and the rivet plate adhered to the frame also has three rivets?
Asked by: Lopaka
In order to determine if we have a replacement hinge for your model of ladder we would need some additional information from the ladder. If the ladder has a sticker that says it is manufactured by "Kentucky" then the hinge is replaceable. If the ladder shows it was manufactured by Kentucky and was manufactured prior to 2006, the part number you would need would be 55-1. If you are having problems finding this information on the ladder please contact our customer care department M-F from 8am-5pm EST.

Different types of ladders are designed to keep you safe and productive when climbing or standing. Using the wrong style of ladder or simply ignoring the limitations of climbing equipment can result in a fall or serious injury.
Height is referring to the actual ladder height. Extension ladders should be 7 to 10 feet longer than the highest support or contact point, which may be the wall or roof line. The highest standing level is four rungs down from the top. The highest permitted standing level on a stepladder is two steps down from the top.

Reach height is the maximum reach assuming a 5’6” person with a vertical 12” reach.
Ladders are designed to safely hold up to a specific amount of weight. The Werner Performance System defines five different capacities using a color and star rating system. The Duty Rating is defined as the maximum safe load capacity of the ladder. A person’s fully clothed weight plus the weight of any tools and materials that are carried onto the ladder must be less than the load capacity.

Werner offers ladder made from fiberglass and aluminum. Each material has characteristics which make it best for certain applications, or one material may simply fit the personal preferences of the user. For example, if working around electricity users should select fiberglass products due to their non-conductive side rails.
