AC96 Universal Stabilizer is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from I can't recommend Fits my Werner MT-17 ladder, but not well. Quality of the components is good, however I'm not impressed at all with the design. Unit strikes me as a quick, poorly thought out after thought rather than something that was thought of ahead of time. Fastening method is crude at best consisting of a couple of U clamps and some wingnuts. When installing, it bends two support braces in the ladder before it comes in contact with the main vertical rails. Unit does help to stabilize the ladder, but because of the poor design I'm leery about using it. Doesn't instill much, if any, confidence. In my opinion, Werner needs to redesign and re-engineer so that it becomes more of an integral part of the ladder when attached.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Safety Device.... To begin, I'm 74, have emphysema and use oxygen; if that's not enough, I'm just getting back into shape and in the swim of things after several years of recovering from a severe set back. All of the above is probably more information than you need but it's just by way of letting you know how much this stabilizer device means to me as I go about cleaning over 65 feet of gutters and installing gutter screens.Until a couple of months ago, I was doing so without your "literal lifesaver"...; Thanks!!!Much Regard,Duncan

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not to be used on Werner fiberglass ladders??? I purchased this unit for my Werner extension ladder. The narrow angle clips only work if installed opposite to what the directions call for. No where on the box does it say only for aluminum ladders or do not use on fiberglass ladders. I am still using it with the current installation and it seems to be okay. A tip from an old timer, put a little finger nail polish on the threads of the u bolt, this will keep nuts from backing off and break away easy when it's time to remove it. .

Will the AC96 universal Stabilizer work with the MT-22 ladder?

Asked by: WoodMan
The AC96 is the only stabilizer bar that will work properly with the MT series ladders. This stabilizer attaches to the side rails of the ladder using the provided U Bolts and hardware.

Can it be used to clear gutters?

I have the MT-22 ladder and am trying to find out if this is the item I would need as to not damage roof gutters when getting on the roof. Thanks
Asked by: jodmcc1
Yes, the AC96 stabilizer would be ideal for using with the MT-22 multiladder. The stabilizer, also referred to as a standoff, will attach to the top of the ladder, and allow the user to lean the stabilizer against the wall surface, leaving the ladder standing away. This may be used to clear a gutter or other obstruction that may be on the wall surface.

Can be used on MT22?

The few questions and answers here indicate that this (AC96) WILL fit a MT22 ladder, however, I purchased an AC96 last week and had to return it because I did NOT fit. The Ubolts where too short. Was I unlucky enough to get an incorrectly packaged stabilizer?
Asked by: djR1
The AC96 is the only stabilizer that will work on the MT-22. It needs to be attached at the uppermost rung when the ladder is in the extension position. The u-bolt needs to be placed diagonally across the ladder side rails. The u-bolt legs should point away from the user and towards the underside of the ladder. You place the inside leg of the u-bolt inside the knee brace. This should fit securely if these steps are taken.

The Quickclick ladder stabilizer fits well on my Type III (200 pound) ladder, yet the box says it is not for use on my ladder. why not?

Asked by: Chuck
We do not suggest using it on a type III ladder due to the amount of stress it can cause on the fly section of the ladder. This is something we suggest for your safety.

does this model have sufficient offset to rest on the roof to allow clear access to the gutter.

The AC96 Aluminum Stabilizer should not be used against the roof. The stabilizer is designed to be used on a vertical wall.

Different types of ladders are designed to keep you safe and productive when climbing or standing. Using the wrong style of ladder or simply ignoring the limitations of climbing equipment can result in a fall or serious injury.
Height is referring to the actual ladder height. Extension ladders should be 7 to 10 feet longer than the highest support or contact point, which may be the wall or roof line. The highest standing level is four rungs down from the top. The highest permitted standing level on a stepladder is two steps down from the top.

Reach height is the maximum reach assuming a 5’6” person with a vertical 12” reach.
Ladders are designed to safely hold up to a specific amount of weight. The Werner Performance System defines five different capacities using a color and star rating system. The Duty Rating is defined as the maximum safe load capacity of the ladder. A person’s fully clothed weight plus the weight of any tools and materials that are carried onto the ladder must be less than the load capacity.

Werner offers ladder made from fiberglass and aluminum. Each material has characteristics which make it best for certain applications, or one material may simply fit the personal preferences of the user. For example, if working around electricity users should select fiberglass products due to their non-conductive side rails.
